REAL LOVE DOES EXIST

Today’s post will be about two love stories, REAL love stories. Because, although love does not always triumph, sometimes they end as a fairy tale.

Let’s start with the first one. Have you ever heard about Camilo and Evaluna? We think you have.

Camilo Echeverry is a Colombian singer and composer. He is best known for his successful songs Tutu, Por primera vez and Favorito.

Evaluna Montaner is a Venezuelan singer and actress, daughter of the great singer Ricardo Montaner.

Camilo and Evaluna first met in 2014, when they attended a premiere in Bogota. Curiously, both were in a relationship at that moment, but they found each other really attractive.

Some months later, when they were single, Camilo and Evaluna started to talk through Twitter, and soon they realized they were in love.

This cute couple has shown several times how much they love each other. In 2020, Camilo published Medialuna, a song inspired by Evaluna and their relationship. Also Evaluna has confessed in many interviews that Camilo has changed her life and that he is the real love of her life.

They got married in February 2020, and their first child, Indigo, was born in February of this year.

This relationship seems to be very solid. Camilo and Evaluna are real evidence of a healthy and true love.

Another story about falling in love has a famous Italian artist, architect and sculptor Michelangelo as a protagonist. Although it was obvious from his works that he was obsessed with naked and strong, especially men's bodies, he couldn't hide his obsession with one specific young man.

He was 57 when he met and fell in love with twenty-something roman nobleman Tommaso dei Cavalieri. His obsession with this man left several indicators to his homosexuality. Apparently, Michelangelo showered Cavalieri with seductive poems and made dozens of portraits of him. Using poetry, Michelangelo expressed his desire of being Cavalieri’s clothes so he can be wrapped around his body.

The young man embodied the artist’s ideals of beauty and masculinity that he was searching for. Although there are no actual proves that the two of them were in a romantic relationship, or that Cavalieri shared the same feelings, it can be considered as at least one-sided, forbidden falling in love story.

The biggest controversy for the time Michelangelo was living in (15th/16th century) was the fact he was painting walls of churches while the church was (and still is) strongly against homosexuality. Outside of Vatican, parts of Italy tolerated homosexuality in silence, turning the blind eye to it.  It is believed by some historians that Michelangelo’s poems were censored before publishing by replacing all masculine pronouns with feminine.

Moral of these stories is that we don’t choose who do we fall in love with. It can often be heard that love doesn’t care about numbers, genders, races… love is blind for that. Brain chooses to embrace the heart's wishes or to ignore them. It sometimes takes courage, but as long as the ones in love are happy, it is worth it.

Do you remember who was your first love?
